The new drum carder has been developed with blending in mind. It has 72 teeth per square inch (extra fine cloth) and the small drum or licker-in has a special cloth which avoids the build up of costly fibres. It has two gear ratios - 1:6 and 1:9 and the large feed tray makes it easier to blend the fibres.
