If you have or are about to buy an Ashford drum carder (either fine or coarse) this is a 'must have' accessory. The adjustable packer brush will smooth, control and pack more fibres on to the large drum to make a thicker batt. It helps control fine and low crimp fibres, such as angora, alpaca, bamboo, mohair and silk. It is easy to fit - just attach the brackets, fit the brush and start carding.

Louet Elite drum carder
The new drum carder has been developed with blending in mind. It has 72 teeth per square inch (extra fine cloth) and the small drum or licker-in has a special cloth which avoids the build up of costly fibres. It has two gear ratios - 1:6 and 1:9 and the large feed tray makes it easier to blend the fibres. These drum carders each come with a doffer brush, a doffer pin and two table clamps, as well as an instruction manual.

Louet Electric drum carder
The 230v electric motor drives a large drum with a V-belt system, coupled to the enclosed gear system at approx 90rpm. The motor has a thermal safety feature and the drums are covered in with a transparent plastic protection cover for extra safely whilst carding. The carder has fine cloth (46 teeth per square inch) The machine stands on buffers and because of its weight (21kg) it doesn't need clamped to a table.
