"Wool from Seaweed". Natural wool tops made from seaweed - well, made by sheep from seaweed. This is really something completely different.
It comes exclusively from the rare sheep which live on the beaches of North Ronaldsay in the Orkney Islands.
The sheep live almost exclusively on seaweed and due to the conditions and their diet produce this unique wool. Unlike other sheep, but like cashmere goats, llamas and camels, they produce 2 coats.
The coarse guardhair is removed during processing and what is left is a white, black or, when blended, grey, light and incredibly springy fibre. It is really bulky, light and different. Unfortunately due to the amount of processing required it is a bit more expensive than some of the more common tops, but at a mere £2.00 per 100g it is worth every penny (£2.30 per 100g inc VAT)
